Well it has been quite an eventful first part of August here at Casa de Longhorn. So much has been going on, I'm not even sure where to begin. I think I'll have to do a multi-part post to get through it all.
First off, I promised you all some exciting news last Friday and did not deliver. Sadly we found out Thursday July 31st, that Grandmother passed away. So we made a trip to Iowa on very short notice. I have a lot to say about the trip, but think that will have to wait until part two.
The news, I haven't been writing much lately because there were parts of my life I couldn't share, and they affected me so much I didn't feel like I had anything to write about that didn't involve these area. Enough lead up you say...just get to it? Ok, I officially put in my two week notice at work yesterday and will be going back to school full time. Obviously this is not a spur of the moment decision and is something I've been thinking about for a long time, but I am not sure who reads my blog, so didn't want to make announcements that would affect my current employment. The job has not been an ideal fit for me so I am excited to leave it, and excited to start this new adventure.
Some other exciting news I got yesterday is that I was selected for a student aid job which I am very excited about. So all and all, things are moving in the right direction. New job, the ability to focus on my schooling. It is such a relief I can't even tell you.
One last bit of fun. Jake and I have decided to sell my car, as he works from home, and we live about 4 miles from school, so I'll either be biking it, riding the bus, or begging for rides from my fiance from time to time. The biggest challenge I think will be learning to drive a manual transmission. I have never driven a stick before so we'll be having driving lessons from time to time over the next month. I'm sure that will provide plenty of blogging fodder. So alas, if you know anyone interested in buy a 2003 Honda Civic with approx 75,000 miles on it, send them my way. Oh and they have to be living in, or will to get to Texas to pick it up.
Figured I'd end with a shameless plug!

yay! for being done with work, having the job at school AND for selling your car. We love living close to things and having only one car. It's definitely worth it.
I'm sure Jake will find it in his heart to drive you the 4 miles if it's thunderstorming :)
I am interested to hear about your time in Iowa and I'm sad to hear about losing Grandmother
