These things don't happen on a Desktop

Some of the fun of a new laptop is wearing off. This morning I woke to find out my hotmail account had been hacked and some a-hole had sent out an e-mail to my ENTIRE contacts list. I believe this happened one of three ways.

While I was at the coffee shop last week excitedly typing my first blog entry from my new laptop. Someone may have sniffed my computer and gotten my hotmail info.

Same thing, but when I signed in during class at school. Yes, just this once I was doing personal e-mail, while in class. We didn't have wireless internet when I went to school the first time.

As I said in my title, these things don't happen on a desktop because you can't just pick it up and carry it to the coffee shop.

Rest assured, I have taken the necessary precautions to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

The third possibility, and the one I like the best is that the desktop I was working on at school for my job was infected with a worm, and it stole my info. And it wasn't my brand new shiny laptops fault at all....

Same happened to me at a coffee shop. Stole my gmail account, changed my password and I never got it back. Anyway, thanks for the alert.
