Ups and Downs

Life sure can throw you a curve ball every now and then. After such a wonderful exciting weekend, we learned that Jake's Grandma who had been in the hospital had been moved to a larger hospital and wasn't doing so great. After finding this out, one of my co-workers told me they'd found a lump in her breast during a mammogram. And finally one of my friends went in for some sinus surgery yesterday as well.

Right now I'm feeling grounded, thankful for me loved ones, and praying everyone I know who is going through some tough times will make it through alright.

Going to the Chapel

and we're gonna get married! Jake and I got engaged this weekend. Did you hear that! I'M GETTING MARRIED!

Saturday Jake proposed to me at the Botanic Gardens in Fort Worth! It was beautiful and perfect. We don't have many details yet, just that the wedding will be sometime June/July 2009 in Minnesota.

I am excited to be the bride, and plan the wedding, but I am so much more excited to find the man of my dreams and look forward to spending the rest of my life with him.

Can we start having babies now Jake???

Short Sighted

I've been hearing a lot about how McCain has come out in support of off shore oil drilling along the US coasts this week. I believe he thinks this will help him get elected by people who are having trouble paying for $4 gas. Now while I don't love paying $4, I still think we have it better than our Canadian friends to the north, and our friends across the pond. I find this position extremely short sighted and somewhat gimmicky. Most counter arguements I've read or heard about say this won't even help for another 20 years.

It seems like now is the time to focus on alternative fuel sources and not off shore drilling which has the potential to harm our environment.

Now I am a MAD quiter

Grrr now I'm mad. Somehow, I'm guessing through my link in my previous post, I lost my first two weeks of my walking program. How frustrating. I can't seem to figure out a way to get back to it. I guess the good news is, I was only two weeks in, so it's not like I'm loosing THAT much, and the link from before actually shows me week three.

I still like the concept, and something that allows me to track my progress so I guess I'll start over.

Boo, for like the first time ever I am not pleased with Google.

I am a quiter

I quit the gym today. Ha in truth I quit the gym in April, but finally called to cancel my membership today.

However, I have found this, which I have been really enjoying. I like that it has started really light, 3 twenty minute walks the first week, and then bumped up to 3 twenty two minute walks the next week. I've managed to meet the goals both weeks.

It seems like an easy way to start a new habit.

18 days and counting

I am going home for a week at the end of June and I am really looking forward to it. I haven't been to MN since Christmas and that was only for about 4 days. This trip, I'll be home for closer to 8 days. It will be interesting to balance seeing friends and spending time with family. Not to mention at least right now, I'm not planning to rent a car.

It will also be nice to have a little cooler temperatures. I'll take anything I can get.

Lucy you got some splaining to do..

Lucy must be going through a growth spurt or something because she has just been on a role in regards to getting into things in the backyard as of late. This morning, I was getting ready for work when I looked out the window to see what my ferocious little pup is up too. Oh that's cute she is chewing on a stick. wait...what is she chewing that.... OH MY GOD JAKE... Jake our dog has a steak knife.... she is chewing on a steak knife.

I have no idea where this knife came from because when we got outside to inspect it, it was not a knife that either of us had ever seen, but you can bet when I get home tonight, I will do a full inspection of the backyard to find any other kitchen utensils that might be hiding out there.

Death of a Wicker Bench

Last summer I bought this white wicker bench at Menards to have something to set my flowers on at my old house. Here is the wicker bench in all it's glory.

Well, I thought you could see it better in this picture, but you get the idea. It's a white wicker bench that sits about 2 feet off the ground.

Fast forward to last night.

Jake and I had to run to the grocery store to return a movie and pick up a few things. As we usually do we put Lucy outside in the backyard. Where she has toys, a bone, and her very own swimming pool. We got all the way to the grocery store and realized we'd forgotten the movie. So we turned around and came home. Jake ran in to grab the movie and I stayed in the car. I could hear Lucy by the back door just a whining away. I felt a little bad and like we'd tricked her as we drove away back to the grocery store.

Well she must have gotten mad at us because this is what we found when we got back home.

Did she play with her toys, her bone, or in her swimming pool? No, she went after my poor defenseless bench and literally torn the thing to shreds.

And the Winner Is....

So maybe I'll have to shelve contests at this time, turns out my follow through isn't what it should be. I finally got around to my random drawing and the winner is. My girl Andie. Andie, I owe you a gift card to your local Chipotle restaurant.

On a lighter not, we left Lucy outside this evening and she did a little damage, stay tuned for the pictures and story tomorrow.

Becca The Movie Critic

Last night we watched I am Legend, which was Jake's pick, so tonight we watched 27 Dresses which was my pick. Oh my god, it was so bad.
