Hot fun in the Summer Time

I got a text message from my dad this morning, my dad who still lives in MN with just two word saying.... It's hot. I replied back and said Ha. It was 104 degrees hear in lovely Fort Worth yesterday. Today it's supposed to be 102. In fact, it's supposed to be over 100 degrees for at least the next 10 days in a row.

Several people from MN have tried comparing this weather we are having in Texas to winters in Minnesota. Basically just saying, it's miserable and people just don't go outside. My personal opinion is it's not nearly as bad as winters in Minnesota. At least, we can still get outside after the sun goes down, and it's rather plesent. I am still able to take Lucy out for a walk, and although it's warm, we aren't freezing our asses off. Plus, and this is huge. The sun is shining. I can't even tell you what that does for my mood.

I have a major dilema that I will have to resolve at some point. I miss my friends and family like crazy and think for those reason it will make sense to move back to MN at some point, but on the other hand, this weather makes me so much happier, I can't even explain it. Thankfully I still have at least two more years before I have to worry about that.

to fill the time

I have some exciting things coming up in the next week or so, and will be posting much more after that. To fill the time, this blog post from another blogger came to my attention today. After checking my resident internet fraud expert aka. Jake, it seems totally legit, and why not help out a stranger with a dollar. Besides, I'm pretty impressed with her ingenious way of raising money.

Cooking Tip

I have started cooking brown rice in chicken broth instead of just plain water, and oh my goodness what a difference. I think it makes such a difference that I found myself saying today. I think the brown rice made that piece of salmon taste better. Mind you, the salmon wasn't bad, it was actually a nice piece of fish, the brown rice was just that tasty. I'm sure the chicken broth adds some calories, but it is so worth it.

Give it a try.

Salsa, Salsa, Salsa

Look out Fort Worth, the two white kids from up north are going to attempt to Salsa. Jake and I are heading to a meetup event on Saturday to take our first salsa lesson. If your from the area come and join us. At least you'll get a good laugh as we make complete fools of ourselves.

Sidenote: I feel compelled to tell you that Jake is actually a really good dancer and I often get jealous of his dancing abilities. But I'm going to do it in a really small font.

Vacation

I was on a break last week. I took the week off and headed to Minnesota. I cannot tell you what this vacation has done for my stability, anxiety, and overall outlook on life. It is safe to say that before we left, I was heading down a very unhappy road. One that had me questioning my decision to move to Fort Worth and asking Jake if he wanted to move home.

I was so happy to go home I could hardly stand it. Before we left, I wasn't sleep well, my back was in incredible pain, and I just plain felt sad.

I had a very busy trip home. The time was filled with wedding planning, visit friends and family, and one very stressful trip to a bridal shop. By Friday and going into Saturday I was pooped. I made a call to my wonderful friend Andie who understood, more than I realized at the time, my need to skip our planned meet up and just head home early.

Unfortunately the flight didn't work out quite how I wanted but I still managed a little quiet reading time at the airport which helped me decompress some.

I had great time, feel like I have a more positive outlook than I have in a while, and am glad to back in Fort Worth, not quite home yet, but working on it.
