Kiva

Our friends and family where so kind to us at our wedding that we wanted to pay it forward and do some good work for others. We have decided to donate some of the money we received to different charities/giving organizations.

One of those organizations is called Kiva. Here is the explanation from their website as I think they'll explain it better than I.

Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.

Jake has done his homework and researched this organization. Basically the borrower typically pays the loan back in 6-12 months, the payback rate is about 98%, at which point we can decided to lend to another person, donate to Kiva for administrative expenses, or withdraw our funds. We plan to continue to lend for as long as we can.

We are just starting the process, but I am excited to participate.
