I am eating out of a jar of peanuts for breakfast, and I look at the label, only to see an allergen warning stating that the product contains peanuts. WTF?
I bet my orange juice contains oranges

Losing Motivation
I have been feeling so weird this week. I'm not unhappy, in fact, I honestly think this is the happiest time of my life thus far. I am really enjoying this semesters classes, in fact, I'm really enjoying being in school. I like it so much better than working 9-5. I think...think I finally know what I want to do when I grow up. The dogs are so happy and fun to be around. Jake is just great, and we really have fun together.
But this week I've just been off. I don't think the two snow days right in the middle of the week helped much, but I just haven't had motivation to do anything. I just spend my days on facebook, IMing, or just playing this stupid card game.
I haven't gone running since Monday, I don't ever feel like leaving the house. I'm behind in my homework. I feel tired all the time like I need more sleep, but I'm getting plenty of sleep. I did lift weights on Tuesday and Thursday, and am pretty sore from that, so I'm not sure if that's what's up. I've had plenty of time off, so I'm not sure is this is a case where laziness breeds laziness or what. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting sick, besides being tired I feel fine.
I am supposed to go to a play with my friend in Dallas tonight. I really don't want to go. I made a commitment, and will go, and will probably be glad that I did, but right now, I just want to curl up watch TV until Jake gets done with work, and then hang out at home, maybe give the dogs a bath and just chill.
Ugg, I really hope this passes.

Dear January
Dear January,
I am ready for you to be over. No matter where I live, you are NOT my favorite month. If you live in MN, it's just too damn cold to function. If you live in PA, I imagine it's just cold, and maybe snowy here and there. If you live in TX, it's rainy, windy, cold, with the promising of freezing drizzle. The good part is, school gets canceled now and then.
I have had my hot cocoa, snuggled under the blankets, drank my hot cider, and made many hearty wintery meals. Now it is just time for you to be gone, the sun to come back out, and the weather to start to warm up. You see I moved to Texas so I didn't have to endure months like you for long...
Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you again next year. Don't let the door hit ya where the lord split ya. Ta ta.

Running Updates
Well, I have some good news, and some bad news. I ran 6 miles today. That's pretty good. It took me a long time, but I ran the whole time, except for the time that I got lost and had to call Jake to get me back on track. Who knew the Iphone would be so usefully. You can play your tunes on it while your running, and call for directions.
The bad news. I might not be able to participate in Grandma's after all. There is a summer session that runs from May 26 to June 26th. If I can take a class I will, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make the race on June 20th. Not feasible to fly up and back just for a race, considering I'll be up there again a few weeks later, and I'll probably have finals.
It's not a done deal yet. I still have to find out if there is a class that would work for me. But chances are I could get an elective or something to pan out.
I'm disappointed because I really was motivated to run, and am glad I still have the 10k to look forward to. I'm also thinking about doing a half marathon later in the spring just to keep my motivation up.

Obama, Obama
I have heard a lot of things said about President Bush this week, some I have further questions about, and some I think were just plain dumb, but on this Inauguration day after watching the 44th President and the first black man ever elected president take the oath of office, I choose to ignore the other things, and just be proud. Proud to be an American, proud to have voted, proud to be part of the future.
Take heart friends, a new day has arrived.

Grandma's Marathon
Well, it's official, I am signed up for Grandma's marathon. Last night I set an alarm to wake up at 11:55 am so I could be ready when the registration began at 12:01 am.
I woke up, filled out the forms, completed the registration and was back in bed by 12:15 am. The marathon is June 20th in Duluth MN. Three weeks before my wedding!

The Question of the Week
The question of the week at the Good household is should we get another dog? We started thinking about getting another dog this fall sometime, thinking it might be good for Lucy to have a playmate. She is a very high energy dog, and seems to get bored a lot. When she's bored, she gets into things. She steals shoes, and gets up on the counter, and gets into the garbage can, and the list goes on. We thought a playmate might help with some of that.
When we were in IA at Jake's mom's house and Lucy was not getting along with the dogs there, we thought nope, no way. But then we went to my parents house, and my sister had her two pups there. One was about Lucy's age, and they seemed to get along really well. So we flip flopped again.
When we got back to TX we had a session with our dog trainer, and I asked her what she thought about getting another dog. I'm not even kidding her face lit up, she thought it was a great idea. I got the sense that maybe she had been wanting to suggest this, and had lots of good advice.
So last Friday, I went to the Human Society, and found the cutest little Beagle. He is about 8 months out and has a great personality. I brought Jake to meet him on Sunday.
I think we are both about 90% of the way to saying yes, let's get another dog, but we certainly have some fears. I think the biggest one is. What if Lucy doesn't like this dog, will we be able to bring it back to the Human Society without having our hearts broken.
So as of today, we still do not have another dog. I think there is a part of me that worries someone else will pick up the cute little beagle, but I think that is the chance I must take to make sure we are complete certain about this before we bring him home.
I'll keep you posted.

10k training week 1 recap
well I made 5 out of 7 days this week, one of those days was a rest day, so it doesn't really count. Overall I missed two runs. A 3 miler, and 4 miler yesterday.
I'm off to a good start for the week, Lucy and I just finished a 3 mile run. Our typical out and back route which seems to work well for both of us. This week, we might try to add a few weights so we'll see how that goes.

Officially a Texas Homemaker
I filed for Texas residence status with my school in October. Jake and I have been here for over a year now, so I thought it would be no problem for me to get residence at school, and therefore get in-state tuition.
It would seem logical to a girl that if one possesses a Texas drivers license, a voter registration card and voted in Texas, has Texas plates on her car, and overall contributes to the Texas economy she would be consider a Texas resident. That girl would be wrong. All of these lovely examples only count as secondary proof that I am a resident. From the schools perspective in order to be consider a Texas resident, I would need to have held a job for 12 solid months, so my 10 month stint didn't count. Be married to a Texas resident, own a home in Texas, or be able to prove that I have spent the last 12 months as a homemaker doing jobs that would otherwise have been hired out.
Well after talking with the school registrar, the only category I fit into is the homemaker category. So I had to have Jake write a letter stating that I have not been working so that I could support him and run our home. So 1950's.
But whatever, we did it. The school now considers me a resident, I'll get lower tuition, and everyone will be happy.
Do you suppose this means I have to start doing the laundry now?

Wedding Bell Blues
Dude weddings are expensive. We got our estimate this week from our reception place. Guess what, we're over budget. I know, big shocker. I'm hoping this happens to everyone.
It makes me frustrated and a little sad. I can't help but feel like my wedding is just going to be ho hum and just like all the rest. This leads me to feel like why are we spending so much money on all this stuff.
Right now I just feel stuck and a little trapped. This is not how a girl is supposed to be feeling about her wedding day.
Sometimes I can't help but think I've got the guy(which is the most important thing, don't think I'm loosing sight of that, did you read his new years blog post, he truly is the man of my dreams) and the dress, let's just forget the rest of this and invite our closest friends, and our immediate families, you know, the people who actually care and will remember all of the hard work and planning we went through, and call it a day.

Writers Wednesday
As part of my new years resolution to blog more, I am going to try and stay up on the Writers Wednesday from Mama's Losin' It.
She is giving me permission to talk about Lucy. I'm going to kind of combine her most recent post which was a year in review, and her writers Wednesday which is to tell us about your pet and about our latest obsession.
So here is a year in review of the namesake of this blog.
Here is Miss Lucy the day we brought her home in Jan. She weighed I whopping 8 lbs.
Here is Lucy in February attacking our Friend Mike who had come to visit.
Lucy, up to no good, got herself stuck in the lid of the trash can.
Here are Lucy and Jake in March fighting over who got to sleep in the kennel that night.
In August Lucy found her sea legs.
Once again up to no good Lucy decides to sneak a giant stick into the house to chew on, because all of her toys and her bone just weren't interesting enough.
We also have some really great video of Lucy playing with my sisters two dogs at my parents over Christmas, but I am too impatient to try and figure out how to get the clips off the flip video and on to my computer, so you'll have to take my word for it.

10k training Day 1
Today was the first day of my 10k training. I hit up the treadmill at the gym because it is raining here today. I attempted 3 miles. I didn't think it would be too difficult. I'd run that much a couple of times before leaving for Christmas break.
Ha I'm such a fool. It took me 37 minutes to run/walk 3 miles. I made it through with a little help from 50 Cent, Beyonce, and Rihanna. I hope tomorrow is a little easier on me.

New Years Resolutions
Hi, I'm back. Happy New Year to all.
I'm not a huge believe in New Years resolutions, but this year, I've got a couple, and I really would like to stick with them.
1) Blog more, really I have the time, and usually have something to say.
2) Start this semester better than last semester. Study earlier in the semester, not later.
3) Successfully complete the Cowtown 10k, this will be the determining factor in whether I can training for Grandma's marathon this summer.
Let me know some of your new years resolutions, I'm interested in hearing them.
