This and That

Life has calmed down drastically for me over the last week or so. The end of last week was pretty crazy. I finished up my classes, got a call from my lady who rents my house... yet another thing is broken, had two holiday parties to attend in one night and ran 10 miles. It took until the beginning of this really to really slow down.

Jake has been out of town so I've been enjoying a little me time which was probably really good after this crazy semester.

I got to exercise with the old folks and have lunch with a nice church nurse lady. I really feel like I've grown in my faith this semester. I will probably never be a regular church attender, but I really have come to see the benefits of belonging somewhere. That's probably for another post though.

Tuesday night I had dinner with Jen and Daniel. Jen and I made a turkey pot pie that turned out really good. It was really enjoyable to cook with someone and just sort of visit while we worked. It might be worth trying to coordinate a meal sharing event of some sort.

I made a second attempt to take both dogs for a run. It was actually went really well. It was actually so great I did it twice this week. I will take responsibility that part of the problem with the first time was my mood, part of the problem was that it was dark, and part of the problem is Bentley's fear of storm sewers and anything metal (he goes around man hole covers, water meter covers etc). However, if I go when it's light so I can see the obstacles Bent will avoid, and keep aware of the fact that if we are on the grass, he will attempt to pee it goes much better.

Speaking of the little monkey, he has been such a snuggle monster this week.

Jake is coming home tonight and while I have enjoyed my time away, I am ready for him to come home.

We have a nice weekend here in the Fort and then we had to MN on Dec 23rd for some family time.

Running recap week three

The damn family got in the way.... or at least that is the excuse I'm using for not completing my long run this week.

Lucy and I got out and logged 4 miles on Thanksgiving day, and I was feeling so good about the training. Then Friday we went to the zoo and walk around for hours, then we went to the parade of lights and walked and stood some more. Saturday morning I was tired and just not feeling up to the 7 miles I was supposed to run. I'm sure had it been just a normal Saturday, I would have sucked it up at some point during the day and gotten out and done it, but alas the in laws were around and I decided to forgo the run for that day.

I am back on track this week and plan to do 8 miles I think on Saturday. I met up with a girl today and we are going to try to motivate each other. We train pretty differently so I don't think we'll be able to run much together, but we think just being able to set up times to meet up and then go our separate ways will at least help get us there.

Also, to avoid the family holiday skip, I have tentatively set up a 12 mile run with a girl from high school when I'm in Minnesota for the christmas break. Let me tell you how much I'm looking forward to THAT run.
